1. How do I dispose of latex paint?

Latex paint is not considered a hazardous waste. It is water soluble. Dry it out, leave the lid off the can, and throw away with regular trash.

3. What is accepted as hazardous waste?

We accept pesticides and herbicides; toxics and poisons; used motor oil and antifreeze; auto and other batteries; fuels, solvents, and flammables; cleaners and corrosives; oil based paints (no latex).

4. When is the landfill open?

If the wind reaches 30 mph at the landfill, in accordance with DEQ Guidelines, the landfill will close down. If the wind remains under 30 mph for more than 1 hour, they will re-open.

5. Do I need to cover or secure my load to take to the landfill?

Yes, it needs to be covered with a tarp or tied down.

6. Is shredded paper recyclable? May I drop it off for recycling?

Shredded paper is no longer accepted as a recyclable. Once paper is shredded we are unable to recycle it. It should be placed with trash in your waste container, or can be dropped off at the Felix Pino Transfer Station for a fee.

7. Are telephone books accepted for recycling?

Yes, telephone books may be placed in your recycle container and or dropped off at the Felix Pino Transfer Station for a fee.

8. Are plastics accepted for recycling?

Plastics #1 thru #7 may be placed in your recycle container and or dropped off at the Felix Pino Transfer Station for a fee. All caps, rings, and labels may be left on containers, please rinse all food residue from the containers.

10. What type of compost products are available to purchase?

Buffalo Chip Compost, EcoGro, Evergreen Compost, Natural Cover Mulch, Double Grind Mulch, Screened Topsoil, Prepared Topsoil, Double Take Wood Mulch.

11. I have extra/bulky items that need picked up, how do I go about that?

Call the Sanitation Division at (307) 637-6440 to arrange this service. There is a fee for this service depending on the items to be picked up. Please see brochure. Automated Refuse Collection Brochure

12. What is the Transfer Station dumping hours?

Monday – Saturday 7:00 am – 2:30 pm The Transfer Station does not accept compost material.
