Disposing of Other Materials
Latex paint is not accepted as household hazardous waste. Latex paint should not be poured down the drain, dumped on the ground, or thrown in the trash in its liquid form. Either use the paint or solidify it (let it completely dry or add cat litter to the paint to solidify it). Once the paint is dry you may throw it away in your bagged household trash. Please leave the lid off the container so that our sanitation workers see it is solid.
Electronic components, such as computers, monitors, keyboards, televisions, and cell phones contain hazardous materials and shall not be placed in collection containers for regular disposal or disposed of in the landfill. Recycling of these components is free to City residents when dropped off at the Felix Pino Transfer Station. There is a fee when electronics are picked up at residential homes. Charges to commercial entities for recycling of electronic components are based on the City's cost for recycling plus 10% for handling and processing. Contact the Household Hazardous Waste Division for current prices and proper disposal of items at (307) 638-4309. No appointment is needed. Electronics will only be accepted Monday-Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. CLOSED 12:00 - 12:30 for lunch.
There is a fee for Freon removal. Please see fee schedule. The fee must be paid in addition to disposal fee of all refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners unless Freon removal has been certified by a licensed repairman.
